It’s a new year and many are making resolutions about what we are going to do for ourselves.  This week meet Stacy & Debbie, two of the outstanding corporate leaders for the Direct Selling company Norwex, who remind us that we also need to think about what we can do for others.  

All of us are powerful beyond measure to open doors for people to find all sorts of ideas, inspiration, experience, adventure and help bring people to new levels of living, loving and achievement in all areas of their lives.

In this video I share the story of my participation in the “Mr. University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown” pageant. This story is a reminder that when we do what we can and do the best we can, all along the way we see signs that we are on the right track. As well when we follow the clues there are always unexpected blessings…in this story I find the gift for a lifetime.

This week hear about my appearance on the Howard Stern Show back in December of 1994.  No matter how trivial a moment some may see this…it was important to me.  We all wear an invisible sign that reads “I’m Important” and in order to better understand people, build trust with others and build meaningful relationships we must work to find out what these things are, as it’s there we begin to know and deeply understand others showing them our genuine interest in them.

In August of 1993 as I began graduate school I took a job as a live in “Manny” for Chris & Jon Butcher, who you met in Volume 27, (Click To Hear Volume 27 “Listen To Who?”) on their farm in Chester Springs, Pennsylvania.  Cooking, cleaning, chaffering and looking after Chris’ kids were just some of the responsibilities that filled nearly 5 years of service.

This week meet Chris’ three kids Jen, Jon & Meredith whom during my “Mannying” gave me the gift of experiencing what it was like to be a big brother and who gave me my first lessons in leading, managing and getting things done.

As Courtney and I were beginning to make our way in the “real world” it was Chris & Jon who helped us with our first crucial steps.  Living on their farm with them they were the closest of friends and came to know and understand Courtney and I as well as friends can know one another.  In a world of endless noise filled with “well meaning but often uniformed voices” Chris & Jon gave us the gift of identifying and hearing the people who know us best and who can really have our best interests at heart.

For those first 7 years following college Chris & Jon were one of a kind stewards to Courtney and my dreams and armed us with solid, well informed guidance, in the direction we chose to go.

Make-mistakes-learn-from-them-laugh-about-them-and-move-along_

From time to time in the “You’re A Gift Series” I will share “My Bad” moments reminding us all that mistakes are inevitable, everybody makes them so we are never alone, they are guidelines not stop signs and we inevitably always find our way through them when we learn to forgive ourselves first.

Other’s mistakes are gifts to all as they give the gift of learning through OPE “other people’s experience”.  May this and all the other “My Bad” situations I’ll share with you from time to time help you avoid making the same mistakes through slightly self deprecating, often humorous, always head scratching stories.

This week hear all about my bumbling and stumbling as Courtney I began our lives together that almost cost me life’s greatest gift, Courtney.

This week meet my Father & Mother In-Law. 

Tim & Donna raised a fantastic Family with 5 kids and I am fortunate to be a part of their Family as well.  While I was not the ideal suitor they imagined their daughter Courtney brining home, through those first years of change and adjustment I found a gift from them that has allowed me to bring hindsight into the present moment.  This gift allowed me to better handle intense and important situations to bring about outcomes that are best for all involved.
