Putting others before ourselves can be a tough task in a world where “looking out for number one” is often taken to the extreme.  As my upline and sales managers/leaders in my first business with Enviro-tech International, Paul & Bill acted in a selfless way when teaching me the business and at one major keystone moment in my life that opened so many door of opportunity.   When they could have rained on my parade they only wished the best for Courtney and I.

Thanks Paul & Bill your kindness and our wonderful time together is never forgotten.  Thanks for your gift, your example, of selflessness!

Thanks for listening!  Happy days…

Vol. 36 “Patience Thru Progress”- Jim McNeely

Jim McNeely0001 Jim McNeely0002

Just knowing that “patience is a virtue” alone does not make it easy to develop a sense of patience within ourselves.  Jim McNeely came into my life at the perfect moment where I needed to build some patience in order to develop long-term perspective and consistent follow through.  In a world full of messages speaking of “short term fixes”, “gotta have it today” and “we are entitled to have it today” makes Jim’s gift all that more important.  Today I try to give you a piece the gift Jim gave me, over the course of years, packed into several minutes.

Thanks for listening!  Happy days…

Vol. 35 “My Bad: The Motorhome”

Motorhome0001 Make-mistakes-learn-from-them-laugh-about-them-and-move-along_

From time to time in the “You’re A Gift Series” I will share “My Bad” moments reminding us all that mistakes are inevitable, everybody makes them so we are never alone, they are guidelines not stop signs and we inevitably always find our way through them when we learn to forgive ourselves first.

Other’s mistakes are gifts to all as they give the gift of learning through OPE “other people’s experience”.  May this and all the other “My Bad” situations I’ll share with you from time to time help you avoid making the same mistakes through slightly self-deprecating, often humorous, always head scratching stories.

This week hear all about my bumbling and stumbling as I added insult to injury, more debt on top of our $50,000 of unsecured debt, buying a 40 foot motorhome.

Thanks for listening!  Happy days…

Vol. 34 “It’s How You Say It”- Dean Naylor

scan0002  scan0003

In life we all need trusted people to tell us what we need to hear not what we want to hear.  However that is only half the equation.  The second half of the equation is how something is said.  Dean Naylor was the master of being a velvet hammer.

Dean in so many ways was the “Mary Poppins” of helping me grow and develop.  His style, his smile, his chuckle…his “spoonful of sugar”…as he delivered some of the hardest, toughest things I needed to learn, accept and face as I aspired to be more, do more and have more was the medicine I needed!

It was the honesty, delivered oh so perfectly,  that makes me think of he and his wonderful wife Lynnie as friends I love still today.  I know all those who grew from his relentlessness to not let anyone accept nothing but the best in ourselves, feel the same way.

Thanks for listening!  Happy days…

Vol. 33 “Everything Ends…It’s A-OK”- Jonathan Goldsmith “The Worlds Most Interesting Man”

33 scan0001

You know him as the Dos Equis “World’s Most Interesting Man” I know him as a dear friend and mentor from 1995-1997…Jonathan Goldsmith.

I met Jonathan in 1995 when he was the President of Enviro-tech International.  He became my first mentor in public speaking, in Direct Selling and a friend.  Our time together ended when he departed from his role in 1998, my time with him cut too short.  So many moments and lessons I learned from him, the last one he left me with defined a big part of me over the past two decades.

Wherever you are my friend know that I miss you.  Courtney and I speak of you often…the guidance, support, attention, the joys and the wonderful stories you gave us.  Neither time, distance or the past will change or ever erase that.  What a moment it is every time I see you and your adventures as “The World’s Most Interesting Man.  Stay thirsty my friend!

Thanks for listening!  Happy days…

Vol. 32 “Simplicity Is Greatness”- Rod Yanke

scan0001 Photo Jan 18, 6 09 47 PM

Rod Yanke co-founded Enviro-tech International when by happenstance he found Waterless Carwash.  It was his simple vision that changed the lives of tens of thousands of people in the 90’s by putting people into home based businesses with a unique, one of a kind product.  That company grew to greatness, more than 50 million in sales annually, from a simple idea, a simple battle cry of “squirt the dirt 3 times a day and watch your business grow”.  As distributors we were so steeped in the basic, the fundamentals.  So simple an idea lead to great things for so many people.

Thanks for listening!  Happy days…

Only in America can two kids start a business from their kitchen table, with Waterless Carwash, that would bring about debt freedom and create the past 20 years of business adventures as well as gift givers that you’ll begin to hear about this week and going forward in the “You’re A Gift” series.

Special Video “Life Leaves Clues”

Suit On Stage Sitting

This week I’d like to share a new video clip just added to my video library entitled “Life Leaves Clues”

In this video I share the story of my participation in the “Mr. University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown” pageant. This story is a reminder that when we do what we can and do the best we can, all along the way we see signs that we are on the right track. As well when we follow the clues there are always unexpected blessings…in this story I find the gift for a lifetime.

Vol. 29 “Silly But Important”- Howard Stern

imagesCA2QTH1E

This week hear about my appearance on the Howard Stern Show back in December of 1994.  No matter how trivial a moment some may see this…it was important to me.  We all wear an invisible sign that reads “I’m Important” and in order to better understand people, build trust with others and build meaningful relationships we must work to find out what these things are, as it’s there we begin to know and deeply understand others showing them our genuine interest in them.

Thanks for listening!  Happy days…
