I wrote the song “Fair Wind” for my dear friends and “Partners” in life for the past 17 years Sue & Mel Awes, and Mel my business partner still today, back in 2003 and I recorded this version July 6 & 7, 2016 in honor of them and for your enjoyment.
Sometimes it seems it’s hard to see
And I hope you’ll be the eyes for me
Out here where the waters clear
With a gale I can go anywhere
So bold so alive and so free
When you reach your arms to me
May the Fair Winds blow you home again
May they take you where you wanna go
May the Fair Winds give you hope my friends
And show you all you need to know
Late at night left to wonder
About whats not and meant to be
All the things drowned under
Right and wrong eternity
Come along be free
Ask..believe…dream…receive
May the Fair Winds blow you home again
May they take you where you wanna go
May the Fair Winds give you hope my friends
And show you all you need to know

In the summer of 1992 my wife, girlfriend at the time, Courtney gave me a motorcycle. She could not have know what a gift that bike would be for the both of us that 4th of July weekend 24 years ago.
June 11, 2016, marks 15 years to the day I walked into Southern Progress Corporation as the National Director of Sales for their new Direct Selling division Southern Living at Home. Who could know what lay out ahead for all of us who were blessed by this fleeting phenomenon. Today hear the story of how I choked on my first day.

The song “Mother” by Pink Floyd is a quiet conversation between a young boy and his Mom. He feeling fear is full of questions and she offering her loving, guiding reassurance that only Mom can give.
Today I share my rendition of this song, my gift to Mom, honoring those conversations she had with me growing up that are a foundation for the freedom to be me, for a life well lived full of joy, for the music that plays in me because of her and for the love I have for Mom. Happy Mother’s Day…I Love you Mom!

Mother
Mother, do you think they’ll drop the bomb?
Mother, do you think they’ll like this song?
Mother, do you think they’ll try to break my balls?
Ooooh aah, mother, should I build the wall?
Mother, should I run for president?
Mother, should I trust the government?
Mother, will they put me in the firing line?
Ooooh aah, is it just a waste of time?
Hush now, baby, baby, don’t you cry
Mama’s gonna make all of your nightmares come true
Mama’s gonna put all of her fears into you
Mama’s gonna keep you right here under her wing
She won’t let you fly but she might let you sing
Mama’s gonna keep baby cosy and warm
Ooooh, babe, ooooh, babe, ooooh, babe
Of course Mama’s gonna help build the wall
Mother, do you think she’s good enough…for me?
Mother, do you think she’s dangerous…to me?
Mother, will she tear your little boy apart?
Oooh Ma, mother, will she break my heart?
Hush now, baby, baby, don’t you cry
Mama’s gonna check out all your girlfriends for you
Mama won’t let anyone dirty get through
Mama’s gonna wait up till you get in
Mama will always find out where you’ve been
Mamma’s gonna keep baby healthy and clean
Ooooh, babe, ooooh, babe, ooooh, babe
You’ll always be a baby to me
Mother, did it need to be so high?

Mom always supported who I wanted to be rather than who she wanted me to be and it was Mom who shared the gift of music. I remember her buying me one of my first albums “The Wall” by Pink Floyd back in third grade. In honor of her, as well as all Moms this Mother’s Day, and her 45 years of love and support I have recorded the song “Mother” from “The Wall” that I’ll share with you in a special post this Sunday. Happy Mother’s Day…I love you Mom.
In the meantime please enjoy meeting my Mom in this week’s message “El Capitan”.
